WTTC/WEFA forecasts that jobs in tourism and travel in Sub-Saharan Africa will account for nearly 7.5% of total employment, with an annual growth rate of 3.4% during the next decade. Similarly, investment in travel and tourism in 1999 was estimated at US $6.1 billion or 11.7% of total investment in Sub-Saharan countries, and is forecast to grow annually at over five percent for the next decade.
