Sunshine Holidays on Lanzarote
For most people a holiday isn’t a holiday without a good dose of sunshine and a visit to the beach. British tourists have become very used to the concept of the beach holiday, as a result of several decades of taking trips abroad.
The reality now is that if the weather is awful in the UK, most people have no qualms about booking a flight and some accommodation at a destination that can pretty much guarantee sunshine. This has become a necessity to many people, rather than a luxury, an indication of just how much the weather affects our mood.
As a result there are certain destinations that have become firm favourites, with visitor numbers from the UK regularly exceeding several hundred thousand a year. Lanzarote falls into this category and it remains a popular choice because of its year round warm climate.
Tourism on the island has been a major aspect of the economy for the last forty years and so the infrastructure on Lanzarote is already well developed. And an extensive range of Lanzarote accommodation is available for holidaymakers to choose from.
A range of good quality hotels in Lanzarote covers everything from two-key apartment complexes to luxury five star establishments. For those who prefer the privacy and freedom of their own space in the sun, there is always the rental option, with villas in Playa Blanca offering a particularly large range of properties.
The vast majority of these villas are privately owned, thus many have been decorated with a more personal touch and come with additional features. It is not unusual to find a Jacuzzi or hot-tub supplied, alongside the standard heated pool.
Some owners understand the importance of providing a wide range of entertainment facilities, which will appeal to families with older children in particular. A games room or provision of Internet access and Playstations are often much appreciated, as well as DVD players and a selection of books.
Fortunately, the island itself has numerous attractions that are both interesting and informative, meaning that visitors have plenty of incentive to get out and explore. And due to the diminutive size of Lanzarote, it is an easy place to find your way around, even during the first visit.
Amongst the main attractions that draw thousands of visitors every year, the Timanfaya National Park is the most popular. As the location of the major volcanic eruptions that occurred on Lanzarote during the eighteenth century it is a fascinating place to see.
